The Icelandic Flight Academy (IFA) was founded in 1989, with the merger of several flight schools. IFA is the largest flight training organization (ATO) in Iceland and has it’s flight department located at Reykjavik Downtown Airport (BIRK). IFA offers a wide selection of flight training courses, all in accordance with European standards (EASA), ranging from private pilot level up to airline flight- and cabin crew recurrent training.
The aircraft fleet consists of:

• 4 Cessna 172 SP Skyhawk
• 2 PA 44-180 Piper Seminole
• 1 ALSIM ALX FNPT II MCC Flight Navigation Procedure Trainer
IFA operates the IFA Flying Club that includes three aircrafts utilized for recreational flying and hour building.
The Icelandic Flight Academy has a team of highly experienced ground and flight instructors. The majority of the ground and advanced flight instructors are as well active airline pilots. Iceland offers an exciting and demanding environment for flight training. The skies over Iceland offer the possibility for training at international and domestic airports with both controlled and uncontrolled airspaces. This combined with magnificent scenery of mountains, lakes, glaciers and coastal areas provides a great flying experience.
